The Life Formula
Want a formula for life that will guarantee that you win every single time? Here it is.
First, ask yourself what it is that you want.
Second, whatever your answer was, set that as your destination.
Third, take a step in the direction of your destination.
Fourth, notice whether or not you've arrived at your chosen destination.
If yes, great, job done. Enjoy your win, and when you're ready, move on to your next endeavour.
If no, ask yourself whether you still want the same outcome, and if so, repeat from step three. If you notice that you don't want the same outcome any more, repeat from step one.
Of course, in reality none of us are able to keep things this simple. We get derailed at every single step of this process. We overcomplicate things.
First of all, we're not really sure what it is that we want.
Then, if we do hesitatingly settle on something, we don't feel that we have the power to simply choose that this is where we are going.
Then, even if we do decide that, yes, we are going to do this, it's usually very wishy washy, and accompanied with lots of feelings of 'I don't know if I can do this', and 'This is never going to work', and 'I'm not even sure if this is what I want anyway'.
Then, if we somehow stick with it and push past all those doubts and insecurities, we start having feelings of 'I don't know what step I'm supposed to take' or 'I don't know what's the right thing to do here' or 'There's this thing in the way that's blocking me and stopping me from getting to what I want.'
Learning how to adjust yourself internally so that you're not getting thrown all over the place by all these things is a process. And most probably it's not something that you're going to learn overnight. It's like a muscle. You start using it, and the more you use it, the stronger it becomes.
The way to get to what you want is simple, but the only way to reach your desired outcome is by walking the path that is leading to it. So you might as well jump on that path and start walking, despite all the noise in your head that is giving you a million reasons why you can't and you shouldn't.
Dare to take that step. If you do this, the way will magically appear. That's the paradox.
You are the one creating it all, and therefore if you know that you can't take a step because there is no path, then you're going to be waiting a very long time for that path to appear.
But if you step forward in faith, in that moment you are creating the path, and the old reality falls away and gets replaced by the new outcome that you have chosen.
So take that step. Walk boldly forward, and watch the world pave the way to everything you desire.
